Overview of repositories¶
Data in GraphDB is organized within repositories. Each repository is an independent RDF database that can be active separately from other repositories. Operations involving data updates or queries are always directed to a single repository. Multiple repositories can be active at the same time and they are isolated from each other.
Repositories are typically native GraphDB repositories. However, there are other repository types that are used with Virtualization (which allows GraphDB to work with relational databases) and FedX Federation.
At any given time, there can be only one active repository in GraphDB. When using the Workbench, you can change the active repository from the dropdown menu on the top right in the Workbench. In addition to that, Workbench links contain a repository parameter, which will change the active repository in Workbench when loaded.
See Creating and editing repositories to get started using repositories.
Note
The console utility lets you perform many operations on repositories from your operating system command line.
